Marion County Republicans: Standing Strong Against Political Theater

Fellow Marion County Republicans,
On August 3rd, Texas House Democrats abandoned their sworn duty to the people of Texas, by fleeing the state rather than face the democratic process they swore to uphold.
This isn't governance. This is political theater.
The Pattern of Abandonment
This marks the second time Democrats have broken quorum over redistricting since Republicans earned the majority in 2003. They previously walked out to block voter integrity measures championed by our own State Senator Bryan Hughes. Each time, the pattern is the same: when Democrats can't win through debate and votes, they simply quit.
The evidence speaks volumes. While House Democrats participated in hearings last week—putting on a show of good faith—they had already chartered jets and organized fundraising campaigns for their walkout. This wasn't a last-minute decision driven by principle. This was premeditated political sabotage.
The Real Cost of Their Tantrum
While Democrats fundraise from undisclosed locations, real Texans suffer the consequences: Property tax relief gets delayed. Flood victim assistance remains stalled. Critical state business is held hostage.
This is what happens when elected officials prioritize partisan games over public service.
Texas Republicans Fight Back
Governor Abbott isn't standing idle. His lawsuit against Democrat leader Gene Wu seeks removal from office for abandoning his constitutional duties. The Texas Supreme Court has given Wu until Friday, August 8th to respond—if he can be bothered to show up.
Speaker Dustin Burrows has rightfully invoked House rules, including arrest warrants for the absent Democrats. This is accountability in action.
Our Demand for Consequences
The Marion County Republican Party stands firmly behind Governor Abbott, Speaker Burrows, and all House Republicans pushing forward the conservative agenda we elected them to deliver.
We demand Speaker Burrows use every tool available: Strip all committee leadership positions from walkout Democrats. Reject all Democrat amendments when they inevitably return. Fast-track Republican legislation without further obstruction.
The Choice Is Clear
Democrats chose Washington-style politics over Texas values. They chose fundraising over governing. They chose abandonment over accountability.
We choose differently.
We choose leaders who show up, stand up, and get the job done, even when it's difficult. That's the Texas way, and that's the Republican way.
The American people delivered a crushing defeat to leftist policies in the last election, watching supposed "blue wall states" crumble one by one. Texas Democrats learned nothing from that rejection.
It's time they learned from ours.
