Chairman's Statement: Data Security Incident at Texas GOP HQ.

Recent reports regarding a data security incident at the Republican Party of Texas have raised serious questions that deserve clear answers.

According to information that has become public, the Republican Party of Texas is investigating an apparent data breach involving its headquarters. Among the allegations being examined are whether former Chairman Abraham George improperly retained or removed access to the Republican Party of Texas mailing list following his departure from office, and that certain email accounts associated with the Party were deleted only days after the new chairman's election. These are serious allegations. They remain allegations until the facts are fully established, but they cannot simply be ignored.

As Republicans, we have long advocated for accountability, transparency, and responsible stewardship. Those principles do not stop at the doors of our own party headquarters. If anything, they begin there.

The Republican Party of Texas maintains information that belongs to the organization; not to any individual officer, campaign, or former officeholder. County parties, volunteers, donors, activists, candidates, and grassroots Republicans have entrusted the Party with their information and their confidence. That trust must be protected.

I am calling upon the Republican Party of Texas leadership and the State Republican Executive Committee to provide county chairs with a complete accounting of what occurred, including: the scope of the alleged data breach, whether any Party data was removed, copied, or retained without authorization, whether Party email accounts or records were deleted, when those deletions occurred, and whether any records can be recovered, what forensic investigation has been, or will be conducted, and what safeguards are being implemented to ensure this can never happen again.

This is not about personalities. It is not about relitigating an election. It is about protecting the integrity of our Party and honoring the trust placed in us by Republicans across Texas.

I encourage my fellow county chairs to join me in respectfully requesting full transparency from our state leadership. We have both a fiduciary responsibility and an organizational responsibility to safeguard Party assets. Asking legitimate questions and expecting honest answers should never be viewed as divisive. It is the very essence of good governance.

The Republican Party has always stood for accountability. We should be willing to hold ourselves to the same standard we expect from every institution in our state and nation.

Our grassroots members deserve nothing less.
